Valentine's Day is one of the most popular days of the year to propose. It makes sense: the day is already about the two of you, and it's a date nobody ever forgets. It also means two things — she may half expect it, and half of Austin is out on a date that evening.
Here's how to make it work anyway.
✦
Is Valentine's a Good Day to Propose?
- ✦Yes, if the day means something to her. Some people love an engagement anniversary on Valentine's; others find it a little predictable. You know which one she is
- ✦It's the easiest cover story there is. You were going to plan a Valentine's date anyway — she expects flowers and a nice evening, not an arch and a ring
- ✦It's also the busiest evening of the year. Restaurants are full and every good table is taken — one more reason to propose somewhere that's only yours
✦
Pick the Day — Maybe Not the 14th
In 2027 Valentine's Day falls on a Sunday, so the whole weekend counts: Friday the 12th, Saturday the 13th and Sunday the 14th. If you don't want her to guess, propose on Saturday the 13th, or a week earlier — she'll be thinking about Sunday, not today. If the date itself matters, take the 14th and make it a different evening than she expects: not a dinner, but an hour by the water before sunset.
The Hour
In mid-February the sun sets around 6:15, so our proposal setups start by 5:00 at the latest and finish in the last soft light. You don't have to work it out — the booking form only offers times that end before dark, and the latest one it shows is the golden one. It also leaves your evening free for dinner afterwards.
Book Early
Valentine's weekend is when everyone wants to celebrate, so the best hours go first — December or early January is a comfortable time to book. The deposit on our proposal packages is $500 and holds your date; the rest is due at least a day before. Inside three days there's a $30 rush fee, plus $30 more when fresh flowers are part of it.

What February Is Like in Austin
- ✦Most February days are mild, but evenings turn cool once the sun goes down. Suggest a jacket or a wrap that looks good in photos
- ✦A cold front can blow through, and it can get windy. Wind doesn't cancel anything — we adjust the setup so nothing blows away
- ✦Rain is decided on the day: we check the forecast at least five hours before and message you. If there's any rain in it, you choose — your home the same day, another date within three months, or keep the date and take the chance

We set up styled picnics all across Austin — built before you arrive, packed away after you leave.

Making It Feel Like Valentine's
- ✦Red roses. With Will You, long-stem roses are $220 for 25 or $320 for 50, in the color you pick. She Said Yes already includes 50 long-stem roses on a small table
- ✦Petals along the white runner to the arch — two bags are included in She Said Yes; with Will You they're $100 a bag
- ✦The question in neon in the middle of the arch — $80 with Will You, included in She Said Yes and The Forever Yes
- ✦A little film of her face when she sees it — $80 with Will You, included in She Said Yes
- ✦Somewhere to sit down after the yes: add the picnic for $200 — a little decorated table with cushions, string lights, music and warm tea
- ✦Champagne: bring your own and we'll set out the flutes
✦
Where
Mueller Lake Park for a lake at sunset, Auditorium Shores for the downtown skyline across the water, Lakewood Park in Leander for something quieter, or your own backyard. For a rooftop above the city, Sky Lounge books only for dates within the next month — so for February 14 you can reserve it from mid-January; the $700 rental is paid to the venue, and outside alcohol isn't allowed there. Solaris House, a private rooftop near the Domain, has no rental at all — message us to check the date.
